ABOUT
Shelly Ellis

Growing up on a farm near on the north coast of Cornwall I always had a natural affinity to animals, with aspirations of being a vet I would spend as much time as possible shadowing the vet and tending to any of the sick animals on the farm. As I grew older I became more interested in the musculoskeletal injuries and how they can affect quality of life and what we can do to help the animal as their care givers.
Later I spent my teenage years being introduced to the world of equestrian sport, through the braking and training of young horses and shadowing the local small animal vet.
After gaining my bachelors in Equine Science, I went on to work on some of the top yards in the UK and Europe, travelling all over Europe working at the very top level of show jumping, as well as working to a high level in eventing and dressage. I was dedicated to the horses in my care and always asking the physiotherapist for tips in between treatments, and developed an ability to read how the horses were feeling in themselves, meaning I was able to take action before a problem presented.
After pursuing this as a career for a number of years I decided to take the plunge and pursue my long term dream of becoming a veterinary physiotherapist myself. Whilst I had grown up with working cattle dogs and terriers on the farm, in order to gain a place on the masters course, I needed formal work experience with dogs. It was then I was introduced to canine rehabilitation, after securing a job at a canine hydrotherapy centre. I loved working with the dogs and their owners to see the amazing results that are possible to assist in their recovery post injury and/or surgery.
Through a tough 2 years of hard work and study I have now successfully qualified as a Veterinary Physiotherapist and I am able to bring my skills from working at the very top levels of equestrian sport and training and working with dogs to assist my clients in gaining the best possible outcomes for their animals, no matter their goals. Whether that is to complete Badminton 5* or allow their elderly dog to enjoy their walks again, and everything in between, I can help you achieve that.
