Equine Physiotherapy

Happy hacker, 5* eventer or retired field ornament, we can cater for all types of horses whether big or small.

We tailor our treatment plans to each individual to achieve the best outcome for both the horse and the owner. With over a decade working up to the top sporting levels in the equestrian industry I truely understand your needs.

Rehabilitation

Working alongside your vets we are able to enhance recovery post injury. Using a variety of techiques (massage, manipulation, exercises and electrotherapies) we can get your horse back to where they need to be with their health and performance. Research shows how physiotherapy can speed up healing and improve the healing (leading to a reduced re-injury risk).

Maintenance

Using the same variety of techniques (massage, manipulation, exercise and electrotherapies) we can help you to keep your horse in top physical condition. Maintenance is useful for most horses, ridden or not. For the ridden horses maintenance treatments can be utilised to prevent injury or reinjury, and help to keep them performing to the best of their ability.

For retired or unridden horses maintenance treatments can be useful to help keep them happy and healthy for longer.

Electrotherapies

Electrotherapies can be an incredible useful tool to enhance and improve recovery.

We currently have a 3b laser and TENS available.

TENS can be used to help mobilise those large muscles in horses, reducing spasming. It can also be used to assist in relieving pain.

Laser can be used to enhance healing, relieve pain and get muscles working properly once again. A particulary exciting use for laser is in cases of tendon injury. Research shows that a short intensive laser treatment course accelerates healing and improves fibre alignement. This means horses recover quicker, and better, meaning they are able to return to full functionality, with some studies having horses with previously career ending injuries successfully recover and achieve better results in their disapline than before their injury.

Retired and Aging Equines

Even after retirement our aging equines can feel the benefit of physiotherapy. Helping them to age gracefully and keep them happy and health for as long as possible. With osteoarthritis being common in our aging companions physiotherapy can help them maintain mobility, which is especially important to help keep them able to get up each morning.
